How This Works

So, you're interested in having me edit your manuscript. Awesome! Now what?

Step 1: Email me here about working together. Tell me about your writing, your manuscript, your timing, etc. I'll get back to you ASAP.

Step 2: I review the first 2,500 words of your manuscript before we decide to work together. Why this step? This assures both of us that your novel is ready for a professional edit, that you're mentally prepared to have your work critiqued, and that you like my professional editing style. I send you my questions, thoughts, comments, corrections, etc. If your prose isn't ready to be edited, I let you know. I also offer you my recommendations for which editorial option best suits your needs.

Step 3: PayPal $250 to annie@annieedits.com to hold your spot in the editing lineup (that is if you liked what I had to say about your 2,500-word sample and want to work together) and return a signed contract. (I send you one when I email my thoughts on your sample.)

Step 4: Send me your manuscript for a First Look-See. However, don't send it to me before you've done a good self-edit. The more time you spend fixing things, the less money you spend on me fixing them. Shortly thereafter, I let you know I'm ready with my review. If you chose Editorial Option #2, I invoice you based on your original word count. Once payment is received, I forward my questions, thoughts, comments, corrections, etc. If you want to talk about my remarks, we can do it "face-to-face" via Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime. (Guess what? I don't charge extra for this!)

Step 5: Revise your manuscript based on my comments, our discussion, etc. Don't dread this step. Everything we do together is to ensure you publish a great book! What's the timeframe for this step? It depends on you and your timeline.

Step 6: Send me your revised manuscript for a Second Look-See. Once again, save yourself some money by doing a good self-edit before speeding your prose my way.

Step 7: I let you know I'm ready with my review. If you chose Editorial Option #1, I invoice you for the full amount. Once payment is received, I forward my questions, thoughts, comments, corrections, etc. As before, we can talk face-to-face if you want.

Step 8: Revise your manuscript based on my comments, our discussion, etc. Again, don't dread this step. Remember, our goal is to produce a bestseller! What's the timeframe for this step? As before, it depends on you and your timeline.

Step 9: Send me your revised manuscript for a Final Look-See. Shortly thereafter, I forward you a proofread manuscript ready for the next step in its publishing journey!

Step 10: Go forth and publish!
